In 1921 the artists who mastered the “Millefiori” art in Venice were isolated in the Murano Island, under death threat and with the excuse that their ovens would burn the surroundings in fire. The real reason however, was to preserve their techniques from anybody else. Countless works of art that nowadays are of great value were created. But people who worked with the glasses wanted to be acknowledged all over the European Continent. During the World War II, in 1945 it almost disappeared, emerging again in the end of the War. After 1980 the technique was spread all over the world. Plastic canes and other materials such as colored plastic pottery are used to shape mosaics in a totally handmade work.
